ALTA Title News Does a Fantastic Job Showing the True Nature of the Title Industry.

The May issue of ALTA’s Title News is out, and the cover story has special meaning to me. You see, it’s about my recent experiences helping people in Texas to dig out and begin the recovery process after the February snow and ice catastrophe. In fact, the phrase on the cover, “We roll up our sleeves,” is very appropriate not just for that story or for me, but for all of the hard-working professionals in the title industry.
Settlement services professionals are rarely flashy (although I do know a few!). We don’t make grand entrances, and we tend to shy away from publicity. We don’t get the credit for pulling a mangled closing together, and we don’t get a thank you very often from just about anyone involved in the transaction. But, that’s ok. We just roll up our sleeves and get the job done. That’s what we do.
Thanks to the great folks at ALTA and the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation for shedding some light on this story. It’s not about me. It’s about bringing the opportunity to do good to the forefront, hopefully, to inspire others to chip in and help, as well. I’m incredibly humbled to be presented with the opportunity to encourage others to help in times of need, and we do – and will continue to.
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve been able to raise over $70,000 for the small Texas town of Harper, which was severely damaged by the storm. The response, especially from my fellow title professionals, was inspirational. It was generous and warm-hearted. It involved the time, effort, and good works of a lot of people. But, you know what it wasn’t?
Surprising.
You see, we’re title professionals. When a problem presents itself, we just roll up our sleeves, and get it done. Always.
